En som Mæ (Someone like Me)

Stellaris DansTeater and Samovarteateret

A family performance by Bente S. Andersen and Solveig Leinan-Hermo inspired by author Oskar Stein Bjørlykke.

To be seen and heard is the starting point of this performance. Through Bjørnlykke's poetic language, dance, movement, sound and music, placed in a visual connection, this performance tells the story of Mia. What it is like when a friend dies, and what it is like to find a new friend? In the centre, like in Bjørlykke's work, lies a child's thoughts and reactions.

The poems are not like a stream, like the stories. They are more like pit stops, where you pause to reflect. I often say I write poetry because I want others and myself to stop. Stop and watch things, things that I have seen many times before, but not really seen. Things often carry with them so much not so often noticed. Perhaps we need poetry in order to see them.
(translated)

In the same way that Bjørlykke uses his poetry, we use our artistic expressions to bring forward our story En som Mæ with humour and afterthought. The audience follow this little persons quest in finding herself. To exist is to be experienced.
