Growing older is the most natural thing in the world, yet it is rarely easy. For dancers, whose bodies are their language, ageing can feel especially taboo. It is all too easy to focus on outward appearance and see ageing as a form of decline.

In Konger (Kings), choreographer Un-Magritt Norseth challenges stereotypes that portray ageing solely through illness, loss, and death. Instead, the work celebrates the value of experience and the knowledge that comes with it.

On stage are five male dancers who are older than those we usually see performing. How does the ageing dancer move, and what does he have to offer? Through dance that is both vulnerable and playful, the performers reveal not only what they are capable of, but also everything they have learned and experienced throughout their artistic lives. At times humorous, at others quietly melancholic, the performance is held together by an honest openness that gently weaves through the questions it raises.

Konger is a performance where vulnerability and strength collide, highlighting the enduring value and importance of lived experience.
