DanseFestival Barents, in collaboration with Stellaris DansTeater and the Forum for Nordnorske Dansekunstnere (FNND), invites dance artists and choreographers to apply to present works in progress during DanseFestival Barents 2026 in Hammerfest.
We aim to create a platform for sharing, reflection, and professional dialogue around artistic processes within the dance community of Northern Norway.
What are we looking for?
We welcome projects and artistic practices that are currently in development and would benefit from testing material, sharing a creative process, or receiving professional feedback. This may include excerpts from performances, choreographic explorations, performative concepts, or other stage works in progress.
The selection will be made jointly by DanseFestival Barents and FNND. If possible, we aim to select one artist from each of Northern Norway's three northernmost counties.
We particularly encourage applications from projects that contribute to strengthening diverse perspectives and voices within the Northern Norwegian dance community.
What do we offer?
• Studio space and available technical support on Sunday, 20 September
• An opportunity to present your work during DanseFestival Barents 2026
• An artist fee for the presentation (by agreement)
• Travel and accommodation for participating artists who are members of FNND (covered by FNND)
• Lunch at the festival café
The work-in-progress presentations are scheduled for Sunday, 20 September 2026.
Who can apply?
Professional dance artists and choreographers with a connection to Northern Norway who are members of FNND.
Your application should include:
• A short project description
• A description of what you wish to present
• Your technical requirements
• A short artist biography
• Links to previous work (optional)
